The last step to mentoring your staff is to show them how they’ll be measured.
Give them monthly, weekly and daily checklists to complete.

For example:
Here’s a monthly and daily checklist for the manager of a gym:

Here’s a monthly and daily checklist for the manager of a dog grooming business:

Here’s a monthly and daily checklist for the manager of a salon:

At their Career Roadmap meetings, show them both their checklists and their evaluation forms. Let them know the target they should hit, and then help them hit those targets.

Your staff is the largest investment you’ll ever make in your business. They are the source of greatest leverage. The key to scaling your business through your staff is to maximize your leverage by telling them what to do; showing them how to do it best; and then mentoring them to do it. If any of those pieces are missing (clear directions, demonstration or coaching), they will never live up to their true potential, and your business growth will be limited.
